USA Today- State Championship Called A Tie?!

The championship! They have spent their entire season preparing for this. The hard work, long practices, injuries, sweat, yelling, teamwork, and pride…. It’s all for this one game. The chance to be crowned champion for that year.

On Saturday in Connecticut, the girls hockey teams from Simsbury and East Catholic/Glastonbury/South Windsor faced off for a chance to be the champ. You could hear the intensity in the crowd and the teams.

Regulation ends in a tie. Sudden death overtime. The fans are on their feet. The parents are nervous. Cheering on their daughters and hoping to return home with a victory.

The first overtime ends. Still tied. Second overtime. Exhaustion is overtaken by adrenaline. Everything is being left on the ice. The second overtime ends still tied.

As the crowd continues to pump their team up, the referee comes to center ice. Game over. It’s a tie!

There is yelling, muttering in the crowd, utter confusion on how the championship game can be declared a tie! And us fans at home, just as confused! How can a championship game be a tie?!

Rivals.com Top 25 Recruiters

Often hidden in the background, a college’s team lead recruiter can be one of the most important keys to success. With national signing day over and the dust settled from the surprises, Rivals recruiting analyst spent some time looking over the incoming signing classes.

While these classes have been ranked and reviewed exhaustively, Rivals was most interested in what the team’s recruiter was able to do given the teams needs and resources.

“This year the battle for our coveted National Recruiter of the Year title was a good one, with at least four strong candidates making a case. In the           end, Mario Cristobal had the best year for a top program and was easily Alabama‘s top recruiter, while that title was shared at USCFlorida StateTennessee and Clemson. And, for the first time ever, a fired head coach makes the list as a key contributor to an amazing Auburn recruiting class, setting up even more battles between the Tigers and Crimson Tide.”

“From homeless and hungry, Shortridge star rallies” via IndyStar

“He’s a 6-5 center for Shortridge Magnet High School, he’s the best player on the team, and none of that mattered when he walked to the house his mom was renting and opened the door to a nightmare. No furniture. No lights. Nobody.”

From our friends at IndyStar, written by Gregg Doyel, ScoreStream wanted to highlight this beautiful story of Various. Various Wilson has been tried on and off the court, but has never given up. His story should be motivating and exciting for all athletes.

Dakota Young: A Story of Redemption

For most teens, that accident might have been a surefire end to a proud career. Not for Young. After he underwent surgery in late September, Young was determined to return to action. He made that happen on December 20, coming off the bench for Fairfield in a loss to Johnson City and drilling a three-pointer from the wing in the final minute.”

This inspiring story is one you have to read and see. The ScoreStream staff is very moved by Dakota Young’s motivation and drive and we can’t wait to see where the rest of his career takes him.
